RHITU BARUA

Rhitu has significant experience in the Telecom and IT industry with a focus on the Mobile, Internet and Software sectors. In previous roles, she has worked with a number of leading telecom operators and system integrators in India and in corporate finance advisory services in UK, France and Germany.

While working with a corporate finance advisory firm in Europe, she managed the firms relationship with the UK VC community while also working with tech focused entrepreneurs for their capital raising requirements and on M&A transactions. During this period, she worked on  a number of transactions across the technology diaspora ranging from mobile video distribution, mobile security, mobile advertising to touch screen technologies, IPTV encoding/ transcoding solutions, e-commerce platforms etc.

Rhitu has more than a decade’s experience in business development and leading product development projects in the technology space. While at the Bharti Group – India’s leading telecommunications service provider - she held a key role in developing their managed services product proposition in a SAAS model both in-house as well as via various alliances and strategic partnerships. Before Bharti, Rhitu was with GTL where she focused on business development and international alliances for the VPN, datacenter, security and software application services.

Soon after graduating Rhitu was instrumental in setting up a microfinance based initiative in the Indian state of J&K, a venture which is currently providing economic sustenance to several villages in border lying troubled areas. She continues to evaluate micro-finance opportunities in North-eastern India.

Rhitu has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) and is a CFA Level III candidate. She is fluent in English, Hindi and French.
